What Setmore does well
Setmore is the price leader in this category and we won't pretend otherwise. Their published free tier covers up to 4 users and 200 appointments a month — more generous on volume than our free Starter plan — and the Pro tier is published at $5 per user per month on annual billing ($12 per user billed monthly), which unlocks SMS reminders, two-way calendar sync, recurring appointments, video appointments, Google review requests, removal of Setmore branding, API access, and a signed BAA for HIPAA. That is a lot of software for the money.
How they price
Per user, per month — so the comparison depends entirely on team size and on whether you pay annually. Note the gap between the two billing options: the widely-quoted $5 figure requires paying a year up front, and monthly billing is published at $12 per user. Verify current rates on their pricing page.
How Atelier prices
Free Starter plan; paid plans from $29/month ($49 with your own processor), flat at any team size. Run the arithmetic honestly and it splits cleanly. A solo operator on Setmore Pro pays about $5/month annually billed — we are not cheaper than that, and we won't claim to be. Three users billed monthly puts Setmore at roughly $36 against our $29; six users, roughly $72 against the same $29. So the crossover lands somewhere around three to six people depending on how you're billed, and below it Setmore wins on price.
Where Atelier is different
The honest framing isn't price, it's scope. Setmore is scheduling software. Atelier is scheduling plus the rest of running a shop: a full hosted website with service pages and a gallery, gift cards, packages and memberships, multi-location support, staff profile pages with per-pro reviews, the unified inbox, a loyalty program, a blog, review aggregation, and a public directory listing that sends you new customers. Card-present payments and reviews are included on every one of our plans, the free one included — there's no reader fee and no per-month charge to show your own reviews on your own site. If you need a booking calendar and nothing else, that breadth is not worth paying for. If you were going to buy a website anyway, it usually is.
Where Setmore might fit better
If you're a solo operator or a pair, you already have a website you're happy with, and what you need is a reliable calendar with reminders — Setmore is cheaper than us and will stay cheaper. Their free tier's 200 appointments a month covers a lot of small businesses outright. We'd rather you knew that up front than found out after switching.
Who each is best for
Setmore fits solo and very small operators who want inexpensive, dependable scheduling and nothing more. Atelier fits shops with a team — where per-user pricing starts compounding and our flat fee doesn't — and operators who want the website, the gift cards, the loyalty program, the reviews and the directory listing in one bill instead of assembled from separate vendors.
