Tried & True Gentlemans Parlor is a private studio barbershop inside Salon Republic at Pacific City, a block from the sand on Pacific Coast Highway. Saul Arvizu has spent more than eleven years behind the chair, and he opened the parlor to work the way traditional barbering is meant to be worked: one client at a time, unhurried, in a room that stays quiet.

The menu is built on classic and modern cutting and the traditional straight-razor shave, finished with the details most shops have stopped offering — a hot-lather neck shave under a hot towel, a tapered brow, nose and ear waxing. Every service is booked with Saul himself, so the hands on your haircut are the same ones every visit.

The parlor is open Monday through Friday, and parking in the Pacific City structure is validated.
